About
My name is Daniel Hooker, and I am a library student at the School for Library, Archival and Information Science at UBC in Vancouver. Hailing from the midwest United States, I came to Vancouver in search of cheap tuition, cheaper sushi and Masters in Library and Information Studies. Now I spend most of my time attempting to convince my peers and colleagues of the benefits of social media and information technology inside (and out of) the library.
My main idea on this subject usually includes an insistence on evaluating social media tools with a critical eye. I believe that it is my duty (and, perhaps, yours as well) as an information professional to be aware of, and to be able to articulate, both the benefits and the potential pitfalls of emerging technology and social media tools in the profession. I am currently using my status as a student to explore these issues as much as possible, and am attempting to spread the word in the process.
I am active on many social media platforms if you want to get in further touch with me, or you can visit my portfolio at http://danielhooker.com/
